The Claddagh ring is an authentic and poignant traditional piece of Irish identity with three symbolic features: a heart to signify love, a crown to represent loyalty and two clasped hands reflective of friendship.
Crafted in the 17th century, this beautiful and timeless item of jewellery has been worn throughout Ireland by both men and women. Originally simple in design and traditionally gold, over the decades the distinctive piece has given birth to an array of both silver and gold rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings, although some more elaborate than the traditional creation, they remain in tune and aligned with their original inspiration.
The Claddagh ring harks back to a web of intricate and often beautiful myths and stories, once again indicative of Ireland’s rich culture of folklore and storytelling. However, no matter the history you align with the item it is clear that the claddagh jewellery is steeped in a fascinating and unique culture.

Now, in 2025, Claddagh jewellery is as popular as ever, as it continues to inspire artists, designers and also those who wear it alike.
One company who exemplifies the success of Irish jewellery design whilst embodying its cultural roots is FADA. Founded in 2021, the jewellery brand reflects on seeing a gap in the jewellery market whereby both “affordable and meaningful” Irish jewellery, albeit with “a modern twist” could really shine.
Like many Irish people, my eldest sister lives in Australia and so, when it came to getting her a gift recently I wanted something that was meaningful, heartfelt and beautiful. So, I found myself searching a plethora of stores, both online and in person, for that distinctive item – that is when I found FADA.
I read the ‘About Us Section’ and learned that founder Ciarán Martley had also lived abroad and was fuelled by that connection to home, inspiring the first spark – a necklace.
In recent years, the brand has gone from strength to strength becoming something bigger than just jewellery. In fact, their mission is clear: “To offer affordable pieces that celebrate Irish culture with confidence and edge. Fada is for those who love where they’re from, and aren’t afraid to show it. We’re here to redefine what Irish style looks like.”
I read their mission and was instantly drawn to the brand.
As they say, they deliver “culture you can wear” – and how can you not love that?

As if all that was not exciting enough, now they have collaborated with gen-z influencer and content creator, Aoife O’Farrell. Originally harking from Country Armagh, Aoife, who shot to acclaim with her unapologetic and distinctive style, now studies Fashion Marketing in Manchester.
She has collaborated with an array of notable brands and has now teamed up with FADA for what promises to be a one of a kind collection.
On October 31st at 6pm the collection went live, offering nine unique pieces in both silver and gold. From rings to necklaces, bangles to earrings I am obsessed with every piece.

On Instagram, Aoife announced “I poured my wee heart and soul into this collection. I cannot wait to share it with you all and see how you style the pieces. I hope you love it as much as I do.
And, we do.
You can certainly see Aoife’s natural flair for fashion and the creative whilst reflecting her ‘cool girl’ aesthetic, which she achieves so effortlessly.

As early access was granted to a lucky few, many people are already purchasing their own little piece of Irish culture, their own wee piece of home.
The selection is versatile and really offers everyone an opportunity to style it in a way that reflects them and their personality, which we love.
So, how will you choose to style yours?
